ILVO is a Flemish institute that promotes sustainable agriculture, fisheries and agro-food production through research. The ‘Fisheries and Aquatic Production’ department supports fisheries management through stocks assessments, investigating their ecology and the ecosystem, understanding the effects of fishing methods, and insight into the socio-economic aspects of the fishing industry.
ILVO will lead the investigation on use case 1 which will investigate the impacts of spatial closures in the southern North Sea. ILVO has been contributing to stock assessments of different species and has been working closely with the fisheries sector to improve their activities and help them adapt to changing policies and environment.
